How the restaurant name generator works
It combines adjectives, nouns and words for the kind of place (kitchen, table, bistro, eatery, dining room, grill) in four styles: cosy, modern, classic and playful. The patterns are the ones restaurant names often follow: two nouns joined by an ampersand, "The" plus an adjective and a noun, or a noun followed by what the place is.
If you add a word of your own, such as your street, a family name or a signature dish, some of the ideas are built around it. The word stays in your browser.
What makes a good restaurant name
- Short and easy to say, so guests can recommend it by name.
- A hint of the food or the mood: a seafood grill and a family trattoria need different names.
- Spelled the way it sounds, so people can find it online after hearing it once.
- Nothing awkward in the languages your guests and staff speak.
- Room to grow: avoid tying the name to one dish or one street if you might change the menu or open a second place.
Check the name before you use it
- Trademarks: search the USPTO in the US, EUIPO eSearch for EU marks, TMview across national offices, and your own country's register. Look for the name and close spellings in the classes for restaurants and food service.
- Domain: check that the .com or your country's domain is free, or that a short variant is.
- Social handles: look for the name on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
- Google Maps: search the name near you and in the next towns, so guests don't end up at someone else's door.
- Say it out loud: if a friend can't spell it after hearing it once, it will be hard to find online.

FAQ
How does the restaurant name generator work?
It mixes word lists chosen for restaurants in the style you pick, and works your own word into some of the ideas if you add one. Each press of More ideas gives a new set, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Can I use a name from the generator for my restaurant?
Only after you check it. The ideas are combinations of common words, so any of them may already be used by a restaurant or registered as a trademark. Search the trademark registers, domains, social handles and Google Maps first.
How do I check if a restaurant name is taken?
Search the USPTO in the US, EUIPO eSearch for EU trademarks and TMview across national offices, then check the domain, Instagram and Google Maps near you. If a restaurant nearby uses a similar name, choose another.
Should a restaurant name say what kind of food it serves?
It helps when the name alone has to tell people what you are, for example on a delivery app or a map. A name that says only the mood works too, as long as the sign and your profiles say what you serve.
What makes a good restaurant name?
A short name that is easy to say and spell, hints at the food or the feel of the place, and still fits if the menu changes. Test it out loud and in the languages your guests speak.
Is the restaurant name generator free?
Yes. It needs no sign-up and no email, and it runs entirely in your browser.
